We offer two personalised pathways:
Independence and Vocational. Students are assessed during a short induction period to ensure the most meaningful route is chosen.
The Independence Pathway is focused on developing the essential life skills needed for adulthood, using the Brookhaven Steps curriculum alongside core areas of the main curriculum. This pathway emphasises personal care, social skills, emotional regulation, and functional learning, enabling students to build confidence and independence in everyday life. Students also have opportunities to achieve meaningful qualifications appropriate to their needs and strengths. The Independence Pathway prepares students for adulthood by equipping them with the skills to live with confidence and to contribute meaningfully to their community and society.
Independence PathwayThe Vocational Pathway combines elements of practical, hands-on learning with academic achievement. Students work towards qualifications such as Functional Skills, BTECs, or GCSEs where appropriate. This pathway prepares students for further education, training, or employment by developing both vocational and academic skills. Alongside subject-specific study, the pathway focuses on building resilience, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, ensuring students leave school ready to succeed in the workplace, apprenticeships, or continued study, while also developing the confidence and independence needed for adult life.
